YU was founded in 2019 with a single, clear conviction: that the way most people wear shoes is quietly damaging their health — and that there had to be a better way.

We started small. No warehouse, no investors, no grand launch event. Just a genuine frustration with the footwear industry and a belief that shoes should work with the human body, not against it. Too many people were experiencing chronic foot pain, knee discomfort, and lower back problems without ever connecting those issues to the shoes on their feet. We saw an opportunity to change that.

From the very beginning, our focus was on barefoot design — footwear that respects the natural shape of the foot, allows the toes to spread freely, and keeps the body in proper alignment. We developed our first shoe with input from podiatrists and movement specialists, ensuring that every detail served a genuine functional purpose. The wide toe box, the zero drop sole, the lightweight construction — nothing was added for appearance alone.

Since 2019, YU has grown into a brand trusted by thousands of customers across Europe and beyond. Our community includes athletes, everyday walkers, people recovering from injury, and older adults who simply want to move through life with less pain and more freedom.
